Have you ever been in one of those situations where you just can’t believe it’s happening to you, yet somehow you are stuck in the middle of what feels like a nightmare? Well, that’s exactly what happened to me one afternoon while I was at work. I had just gotten hired to work backstage at a local concert stadium and I was super excited. Lucky for me, the uniform was black work pants, with a black polo shirt, and of course I was wearing my black sun shirt underneath, since I would be working partly outside sometimes.
Well, I started work at 9am, and by noon I was literally living my worst nightmare. I was stuck in the bathroom, having gotten my time of the month completely unexpectedly (several days early), so of course I didn’t have any supplies with me. I was just sitting on the toilet, freaking out, hoping another female would wander in, waiting for what seemed like forever, when I had started giving up after fifteen minutes.
I was literally crying, having no clue what I was going to do, as my underwear and pants had both been ruined, and I knew I couldn’t go back to work with stains on my bottom half. A tentative male voice called, “Hello?! Is there someone here? I heard crying? May I enter?”
I took a deep breath, then answered, “Yes, it’s ok for you to enter, but I doubt you can help because you aren’t a girl.” I heard quiet steps, then the voice asked, “What is wrong and how can I help?”
I was going to tell him to go away but then realized it really didn’t matter if I was honest with him or not, since he was a stranger and I most likely wouldn’t ever see him again anyway, so I replied, “Well, I just ruined my pants and underwear when my monthly period showed up unexpectedly. I can’t go back to work and I have no supplies, or fresh clothes. I’m sorry for bothering you.” I was crying again by the time I finished explaining.
He took a couple steps closer, then said calmly, “So it seems you need a few specific items to get back to work and then you will be ok?” I answered, “Yes… I think that’s right… But how… There’s no possible way…”
He got even closer, leaning on the wall just outside my bathroom stall, not being able to see anything, but obviously wanting to calm me down as he spoke quietly and deeply, “Why don’t you tell me exactly what you need and I will make a list to bring them to you. I bet I can find something that will help you get through work tonight, if you will accept my help.” I shakily replied, “Yes, ok, thank you so much. I am so sorry.”
He said I didn’t need to apologize and that he understood life isn’t perfect, but he was glad he was walking past at the right time to help me. I told him exactly what I needed, a new pair of black pants, a pair of dark colored underwear (not boxers), and some pads or tampons. He told me to stay calm, and he would be back as soon as he could, then I heard his footsteps get further and further away, giving me a sliver of hope that he could somehow rescue me.
In about ten minutes, I heard footsteps again, then his calm voice as he approached the stall, explaining, “I found the pants and underwear, and got both pads and tampons, from anyone who was backstage and female, so I hope something will work. I also got a plastic bag for your current clothes, so you won’t have to worry about carrying your soiled clothes anywhere for others to see. I am going to slide them under the stall for you now, ok?”
He put everything in the bag, then carefully slid it underneath and used his leg/foot to make sure I could reach it, then went to stand against the wall, just waiting for me to be ok. I managed to get my current things off, then put the new undies and pants on, with one of the supplies he had brought, so I put the soiled clothes inside the bag, along with the extra supplies (in a dry spot), flushed, then opened the door and went straight to wash my hands, hoping to melt into the floor somehow.
After I dried my hands, he was still standing there, so I turned and walked closer, my tear-stained face searching his for any signs of anger, but all I could see was concern, so I set the bag down on the floor and stood right in front of him, saying, “Thank you so much for saving me. I don’t know who you are, or what you do, but I truly hope you are blessed with the most amazing life after rescuing me today. I will never forget your kindness.”
Then I threw my hands around his neck, reaching up on my tippy toes, repeating my thank you over and over. I let go quickly, and wiped my remaining tears, then looked up into his face, something else appeared as he quietly said, “It’s not a big deal. I would save you again in a heartbeat if I got the chance. I’m just glad you are ok now. I am sorry you were so stressed and worried earlier, but hopefully I brought you enough stuff to help you make it through work tonight.”
I nodded, then stepped back, and told him, “Yes, I will be fine once I go put this bag in my employee locker, while I keep a few items for later in my pockets. Thank you so much for knowing I would need pockets. I appreciate that detail. You are certainly a thoughtful person.”
I swear I saw him blush, but then again, it could have been the bathroom lighting, so I figured I was just crazy and turned to walk away, but he reached for my arm, saying, “I don’t even know your name. Please can I have your phone number, so I can make sure you are ok and check on you tonight?” I was shocked, but told him my number, then said, “My name is Zarina.” He smiled and told me, “Nice to meet you- I’m Yoongi.”
Then he motioned for me to leave the bathroom first, so I did, carrying the bag, then went directly to the employee break room, having no clue he was still following me, until I came back and he was right there, leaning on the wall. His face lit up when he saw me, then he said, “I was wondering if I could help you with your job for a little while, or perhaps you could hang out with me if you aren’t busy. Or maybe you could just tell me what would make you feel better, so I can feel useful. I hate sitting around just waiting for my task to begin.” I stared at him, not sure if he was being serious or not, but then he continued to wait, so I guess it was for real, then I replied, “I have to go finish numbering all the chairs in one of the floor sections. You can help me if you want.” He smiled and happily followed me back out into the stadium, then over to one of the floor sections, where he copied what I was doing, literally just following me down each row, standing as close as he dared, never more than one chair away, constantly asking me questions.
I couldn’t figure out if he was just curious, if he was attempting to make fun of me, or if he was genuinely just trying to be nice, but no matter what I tried, he was persistent and I ended up giving him the answers he wanted anyway, so about an hour later I had just given up and began answering him right away, straight to his face, no matter how embarrassing I thought it was. He wanted to know everything about that time of the month, especially what he could do to help me feel better, which I thought was odd, but since I figured I’d never see him again I answered him honestly. I explained how I needed pain meds soon because of course I had cramps, then I went over all the extra symptoms many females experience every month, just to make us feel tortured. He was frowning and focusing so hard, asking me follow-up questions, taking mental notes, and I swear I thought I had answered every possible answer under the sun, when he suddenly asked what I was doing after work. I accidentally ran right into him, which felt like hitting a brick wall, so he caught me before I fell and checked to make sure I was ok before giving me a quick hug, then stared at me, waiting for my answer.
I told him I would take the train back to my hotel, then wash my pants and undies in the room, and hopefully they would be dry before work tomorrow. I was staying alone, so I needed to be able to handle any emergency. I also mentioned I would need to stop by the store to grab some extra supplies so I wouldn’t need to be rescued by him again tomorrow.
He assured me it wasn’t a big deal for him, but he understood why it would have been difficult for me. Another half hour passed, then he mentioned he needed to go check in with his staff to see what his timeline was, but he would text me and I nodded, not expecting much. I continued with my numbering, then went to check in with my manager because they had mentioned I would be working in a different section for the actual concert. I used the bathroom again, took pain meds, and was thankful for Yoongi giving me a few extra items to help me during work, since I clearly could not leave to go to the store right then.
Turns out, I was assigned to the area where they entered and exited, so I was literally going to be within five feet of him several times. He had messaged to say he couldn’t go back onto the floor with me because the fans had begun entering, then was excited when he found out I was assigned to the curtain, so he came and hung out with me at my spot, just standing behind the large black curtain, so everyone thought I was just talking to myself. He was asking me random questions, sometimes even making me laugh, which then prompted him to laugh and I told him I wished I could see how happy he was because it would cheer me up and make me feel a little better, so sometimes he would sneak a peek around the curtain and grin at me, or make a silly face, then disappear again.
Once he had to change and get his hair/makeup done, he gave my hand a squeeze, then promised to come back once he was ready. I understood and even though he was texting me, I could not respond because I was helping people find their seats and directing the fans to their areas. About fifteen minutes until the concert started, I saw him peek around the curtain, so I ran over and scolded him, reminding him that he needed to stay hidden. He grinned and said it was worth it to see me smile, then he squeezed my hand again, asking if I was ok, or if he needed to get more items for me. I told him I was actually good for the night, thanks to him, which made him blush- this time I saw it for myself.
He disappeared behind the curtain then, I assume because he didn’t want me to see his cheeks, but as they walked out for their entrance, he gave me a smirk and winked at me, making me laugh. When they ran back in for their first outfit change, he waved and had to hurry because it’s a super quick turnaround, which I understood. Then during the second change he actually came to check on me, asking how I was doing, if I needed anything, etc. He squeezed my hand, then had to go finish the concert. After they returned, he was standing behind the curtain constantly talking to me while I helped people exit, so I wasn’t exactly focused on his questions, which is how I missed him asking me which locker was mine, the lock combination, which hotel I was staying at, what my dream night would consist of, which female monthly products I would prefer, etc. I answered him, often waving him away, giving him my phone, telling him the unlock code, telling him how to get to my past orders, then assuming he was just being nosy.
Imagine the shock of my life when I finished work at midnight, after making sure all the ticketholders had left the stadium, only to realize he still had my phone, so I couldn’t text him. I sighed, overwhelmed and just not able to handle anything else at that moment, so I snuck behind the curtain and sat down, resting my head on my knees, taking a moment to think before I panicked. He found me a few minutes later, and ran over, touching my arms, asking if I was ok.
I looked up at him and must have looked like I was in distress because he immediately explained, “I still have your phone, so you don’t need to worry. I also have everything from your locker. You are going to come back to our hotel with us. You just have to trust me that I have everything worked out.”
I accepted his hands as he talked, so he pulled me up and I was so tired and in pain, aching all over, I literally could not have cared less about anything he said. He led me down the tunnel towards the back rooms and picked up the bag from earlier, as well as my Eevee backpack, which he put on his back and grabbed my hand, pulling me gently towards a long tunnel. I followed him like a zombie, not knowing where he was going and definitely not caring, so when we reached an SUV, I didn’t question it- I just got into the door he opened and let him buckle me in, then sat right next to me. It was an hour’s ride back into the city, which he spent explaining everything he had done, but I swear I only heard half of it because I was also nauseous from not having food while working and was therefore extremely carsick. He understood and tried distracting me, but luckily, he understood that my silence was not being rude- I was just trying not to vomit in that SUV.
When we reached the hotel, he got out, then opened my door and helped me out, leading me into the lobby, then into the elevator. He rubbed my hand as he held it, worry all over his face, until we reached the right floor, then he pulled me out and over to the door he needed, where he used his key to enter, making sure I was right behind him, and we both kicked our shoes off. He pulled me into one of the bedrooms, then grinned, so proudly, as he cheerfully pointed to my suitcase and explained, “I sent a staff member to your hotel to get your things, so now you can have everything you need. Also, I put everything on your list in the bathroom, so you can feel better. I got you everything you told me and will make sure you have the best night ever, as much as I can take your pain away.” I looked at his happiness, practically glowing, then threw my arms around him again, bursting into tears, as I sobbed, “Yoongi, I am so sorry for being such a burden today. I never meant to cause you so many problems and I don’t know what I did to deserve your kindness, but I will find a way to make it up to you later. Thank you for being so caring and kind and thoughtful and sweet and I swear you have a heart of gold. I am so lucky to know you.”
He squeezed me, then whispered into my ear, “Sweetie, if it makes you feel better, everything is worth it. Let’s get you settled so I can show you everything I am going to do to help you.”
He wiped a few tears away, then asked what I needed from my suitcase, so he opened it and looked for my pjs, but of course I didn’t pack any, causing a new wave of tears to start. I swear that man had the patience of a saint as he hugged me again and calmly told me, “I have clothes you can wear. It’s no problem, really. Please let me help you.” I could only sob in response, so he led me to the bathroom, then disappeared for a minute, where he had already put the Ziploc with my shower items, along with the stuff I had told him I really wanted- a dark towel (not those terrible white hotel ones-the enemy), new underwear, and a whole box of my usual monthly items.
He called to me from down the hallway for me to wait one second, so I just stood there, unsure of what to do, being so overwhelmed by his kindness but also just so done with my terrible day I wanted to give up on life altogether. He returned shortly after, with his clothes, all dark, and set them on the counter. Then he went to the tub and began putting hot water in, adding the lavender bubbles he had also gotten. Once it was filled, he pointed to it and told me, “You need to get in and soak for a few minutes. When you are done, use the dark towel I got, then use the clothes I brought you. I will be making you food while you are in here, then you are going to eat and take some pain meds, so please don’t rush or feel like you need to pretend to be fine. I want to make you feel better, so please be honest with me tonight. I don’t want to make your life worse and cause more tears.” I nodded, totally shocked and out of words for the moment.
He then left and shut the door behind himself, so I got undressed and got into the tub. It was the best bath I’ve ever had and I’m so glad I closed the shower curtain because it had only been about five minutes when the door was flung open and JK came rushing in, exclaiming, “I am here to make you feel better by singing to you while you are suffering with the period pains. I hate those pains in your life.”
I laughed so hard when he peeked around the curtain, but couldn’t see anything because of the bubbles, then let the curtain go and sat on the toilet lid and began singing every random song on the planet. I needed help washing my hair, so he offered to help and I literally didn’t care, but he assured me he would be respectful and only look at my back/hair, which I appreciated. When I was done, about half an hour later, the water was cold, so JK mentioned I should get out because he wanted to eat with me.
I waited for him to exit, then I got out, carefully drying and using the clothes Yoongi had brought, his tank top, t-shirt, then hoodie, and the new girl undies he had bought, plus a pair of his black track pants, which were about six inches too long for me.
I left my long hair down, halfway dry, then cautiously walked out to the kitchen/dining area. JK rushed over and wrapped me in a giant hug, then set me down, asking if I was going to survive the pains, which made me laugh, and Yoongi to shoe him away, guiding me to the table. He handed me the Tylenol and water, then made sure I took it, and delivered several plates/bowls of food to the table, explaining as he set them down, JK’s eyes popping out of his head. I laughed, since he was so funny and was not surprised when Tae suddenly showed up, claiming he was starving as well…
I had so much fun, laughing with them, just being part of their group, no pressure, us just accepting each other at face value, I was soon feeling really tired, so I leaned on Yoongi’s arm, which JK commented on, so Yoongi helped me walk down the hall and brush my teeth, then he waited by the bed, explain he had one more way to make me feel better, if I trusted him. At this point I would have walked off a cliff if he asked me to, so I nodded and used the bathroom one more time.
When I came back into the bedroom, he was sitting in the middle of the bed, so he motioned me over, then held up the cutest little cloud heating pad, grinning, explaining, “I know you said this would help your stomach cramps, so I found a portable one for you to use while I rub your back until you are asleep.” I literally just stood there, staring at him, tears falling down my cheeks once more, unable to form words for how grateful I was, which forced him to be a little bossy and say, “Come here sweetheart and let me show you what I mean. Trust me.”
I went over and did what he asked- lay down on my stomach, with the heating pad under me, my head facing him as he lay next to me, his gentle hand rubbing my back, carefully at first, then a little more bravely, as I gradually fell asleep and my tears dried. He wiped my tears, then moved my hair away from my face as he kissed my forehead and whispered, “I hope you feel better in the morning sweetheart. I would do anything for you, just so you know.”
I wish it was that simple and everything worked out, but nope, that’s not my luck. I woke up in the middle of the night, severe headache returning, then realized I had leaked through the undies and pants I had on, but luckily not onto the bed, so I got up carefully, hoping not to wake him, as he was still lying next to me, but his eyes popped open and he asked what was wrong. I had given up on anything being private a long time ago, so I told him what happened and he jumped out of bed, rushing over to me, holding my arm as I slowly shuffled to the bathroom, my head pounding. He went to the kitchen to get more pain meds and water for me, while I changed into another pair of new undies, and then realized I had no more pants. When he returned, I was just sitting on the bathroom floor, the dark towel wrapped around me, crying.
I honestly thought he would be mad, but instead he simply heard what was wrong, disappeared, then returned with yet another pair of black pants. He set them on the counter, and pulled me up, then told me to put them on, as he turned around, giving me a moment of personal space. I quickly put them on, then hung the towel back up and when he turned around, he was the one who wrapped me in a hug first this time, my sobs shaking my body as he just held me in the semi-lit bathroom. He gave me the meds and water, which I took, then he led me back to the bedroom. He got the heating pad and turned it back on, then helped me lay down on my back this time, so he could put the little cloud on my stomach, then he climbed next to me, giving me his arm as a pillow, drying the few tears I had left, as I quickly fell back asleep. I had no idea at the time, but he was waiting for me to sleep so he could kiss my forehead and whisper, “I don’t know how, but you are stealing pieces of my heart just by being yourself. I hope you feel the same one day.”
When I woke several hours later, I was on my side, he was directly behind me, his arm around my middle, my head on his arm, his breath on my neck, still asleep. I lay there for a few minutes before I had to try to get up- I needed the bathroom again. He woke the instant I moved his arm off my stomach, asking if I was ok, then realizing nothing was wrong- I just needed the bathroom, so he helped me up and escorted me to the bathroom, leaving me alone. I took care of my business, no issues this time, then washed my hands and frowned, finally noticing my wild hair, since I had let it dry overnight. He found me still standing in front of the mirror, then quietly asked me why I was frowning- I pointed to my hair, which made him brush a few wild hairs away from my face and chuckle as he observed, “I don’t see anything wrong sweetie. Come on, I need to make sure you get your pain meds and some food if you are going to have a better day today.”
I allowed him to take my hand and pull me out into the hallway, then into the kitchen, where he already had my meds and the water waiting. I took them, then stared up at him, so he came closer, reaching for one of my hands, but instead, I threw my arms around him, then whispered in his ear, “Yoongi, I am so thankful to know you and I appreciate everything you have done for me, but I worry I won’t be able to show how much you mean to me enough.” He kissed the top of my head, then replied, “Honey, your hugs and smiles and laughter is all I need to know that my efforts have been successful. Please know I would do anything for you at this point, just name it.”
He gave me a squeeze, then let go, guiding me over to the table, talking to himself about what food he could get ready quickly. By the time he had decided what to make, with the ingredients he had available, he saw me resting my head on the table, so he walked over to check and found me asleep. That’s when he realized I needed sleep more than food and carefully woke me just enough to stumble back to the bedroom, where I promptly fell asleep laying across his lap, as he had intended to rub my back, but I was too tired to actually move where he wanted me to go. He chuckled to himself, then rubbed my back in the parts he could reach, smoothing some wild hairs away from my face afterwards and eventually drifting off to sleep himself, me laying right across his stomach/hips.
The next thing I know, JK is breathing in my face, kissing my cheeks and forehead, asking me if I feel better and if he can get me out of bed. I laughed, then nodded, so he quickly threw back the covers and lifted me right up, spinning me around, giggling loudly. This woke Yoongi up, of course, who then began shouting for him to put me down, which JK did eventually do, and I was so dizzy I stumbled, falling straight towards the bedframe. Yoongi saw what was happening and rushed over just in time to catch me, saving my face from disaster. He then reminded JK to ask before spinning anyone, so JK apologized to me, kissing the top of my head and giving me one of his sad faces. Yoongi helped me stand carefully, then told JK he would meet him in the kitchen, dropping me off at the bathroom on the way himself.
When I joined them, JK came rushing over and I flinched, covering my face with my hands, prepared for another attack, but instead, he stopped right in front of me, then said, “I am sorry for my fault. I forgot about the period pains of torture, and I want you to like me, so I will be gentle now for you.” I stared at him, then nodded, knowing Yoongi had made him do it, but the gesture was still sweet anyway.
Yoongi had decided we would eat with everyone else, so he had found out lunch was being brought to Jin’s room, across the hall, and told me I could go with them, since it was still too early for anyone to be at the stadium. I told him I worked at 2pm, but since it was only 11:30am, he wasn’t worried. We walked across the hall, Yoongi, Tae, JK, and me, then found Jin with Jimin, Hobi, and Joon, all setting out food on a giant table. They greeted me like an old friend, Jin patting me on the head, everyone else giving me a gentle hug, then Yoongi pointed to the seat next to his and I sat down. I was afraid of being a nuisance, but it turns out that they love to eat and share food, so whenever Yoongi or JK thought I should try something, they would put it on my plate, watch for my reaction, then smile and sometimes clap (JK), which made me blush, but they were having fun, so I guess it was worth it.
After an hour and a half, I mentioned the time to Yoongi, saying I needed to change into my work clothes and get the train into work, which is when he leaned over and told me, “I forgot to tell you honey- we are taking you to the stadium with us in our cars, so you won’t be riding the train today after all. I have already called your boss and let them know you will be arriving at 2:30pm instead and they were fine with it.”
I just stared at him, wondering when he had intended to tell me, but also impressed that he had handled everything already. They finished eating shortly after, everyone helped clean up, me offering to help with the dishes, but Yoongi insisted we go back across the hall to get ready for my job, then we would all be traveling together. I followed him across the hall and was confused because I had no more work pants, but that’s when he brought me into the bathroom, pointed at my work clothes on the counter, then explained, “I had your entire work outfit cleaned last night, so now it is fresh and ready for today. I knew you would want to feel confident before work, so I hope this helps.”
I stared at him, which he took as a bad sign, so he came closer and held my cheeks in his hands, asking if I was ok. I nodded, then whispered, “I just can’t believe how you are taking such good care of me without asking. How can you read my mind and predict what I want or need when we just met?”
He leaned his forehead on mine and answered, “It’s not that hard, once I figured out your face tells me everything you are feeling, and I asked you everything I needed to know yesterday, so today was easy to take care of. You deserve to not have stress when you aren’t feeling your best and I enjoy helping you.”
I smiled up at him, afraid to breathe, my heart feeling like I was running a race, until he let go, then said he would also go change for the day and meet me back in the living room. I went to the bathroom, put on my work clothes, then packed my extra female items in my Eevee bag, this time fully prepared for my entire shift. I brushed my hair into a ponytail, since I wasn’t allowed to have my hair down for work, then went out to find him. He already had a water bottle and extra medicine on the kitchen counter, so I added it to my backpack, then went to look out the window, just staring into the city. I had no idea anyone was near me until he wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his chin on my shoulder, saying, “I hope you were thinking happy thoughts just now.”
I startled back to reality and shrugged, then turned to face him, his arms still around me. He then continued, “I have never met anyone like you before and I am so glad I did.”
I blushed up at him, unsure of how to respond, so I gave him a half smile and just blinked. He leaned his forehead on mine and sighed, then took my hand and led me to the doorway, where we got our shoes and left, joining the others in the hallway. When we reached the lobby, he pointed to multiple SUVs that were waiting, as he pulled me gently over to the second one, then opened the door and helped me inside, into the very back seat, where he quickly joined me.
JK was sitting in front of me, so he spent the entire car ride trying to make me laugh, causing Yoongi to roll his eyes a lot and tell him to be quiet at least ten times, while I tried to hide my laughter every time Yoongi got annoyed. When we reached the stadium, JK insisted on lifting me out of the SUV, then carrying me to the entrance of the backstage area, which I thought was hilarious, as he was being extra gentle, taking very exaggerated steps, asking me over and over if he was slow enough. By the time he put me down, I was laughing so hard I could barely breathe, which he loved and made Yoongi shake his head.
After they got to their dressing areas, I headed towards the employee break room, so I could check in with my manager and put my backpack away and find out where I’d be working that day. Before I left, Yoongi stopped me, then hugged me quickly, saying, “Please text me if you need anything, so I can rescue you again because I like having you near me.”
I nodded, then waved as I walked away, ready to begin work and feeling optimistic about how things would go. I should have known the universe would have other plans for me because my manager said two others would not be showing up, so I would need to work the floor section that night, not the curtain, which wasn’t a big deal, until she also mentioned that meant everyone would be helping take down the chairs, since it was the last concert for this stadium and all equipment/chairs needed to be disassembled for the next event, whatever it was. I sighed, but agreed- it was part of my job, after all.
I texted Yoongi to let him know I would have to work later than last night, and he said he understood- even offered to help, but of course I knew he needed to stay hidden, or we’d have bigger problems than just taking the stage down. I was so busy helping people find their seats, find the bathroom, stay safe, etc. that soon four hours had passed and I finally was able to escape to the bathroom and drink some water. I felt achy again, but figured my pain meds would help, not realizing it wasn’t just my normal aches and pains anymore. I continued to work through the entire concert, no food and very little water, so when it ended at 10:30pm, I was feeling dizzy but knew I couldn’t take a break- I had a lot more work to do.
I had one of the guys show me how to break the zip ties that were connecting the chairs, so I could get the rows taken apart quickly, but then discovered I could barely lift a single chair, so I had to ask for help, offering to stack them on the cart instead, which the guys were happy to agree to. I worked for about an hour, when I realized I literally was seeing double, unable to focus on any one single chair at a time and was tripping over nothing, which the guys noticed and asked me about. I claimed I was ok, but they sent me to the break room anyways, insisting I needed water. It was now just past 11:30pm and I used the bathroom again, drank a few sips of water, then headed back out, determined to be helpful, but soon realizing I was causing more trouble than it was worth.
I had no idea at the time, but Yoongi had been watching, seeing me trip and fall multiple times, then disappear and reappear, but seem the same, very unstable while walking and stopping every few seconds to hold onto something so I wouldn’t fall over. He knew the entire floor area was empty- otherwise we couldn’t have been taking the chairs down. He figured the rest of the stadium was almost empty, so he sent a staff member to get me, saying the band needed help backstage and my manager said it was fine- I could be done with work, as even she had noticed I was not doing ok. He went to my locker and got Eevee, then waited by the curtain for me to walk over, which I did, slowly and painfully, falling twice because the chairs and barricades were gone, leaving me nothing to grab onto.
When I finally got behind the curtain, he wrapped me in his arms and asked, “What is wrong? I can see you don’t feel well and keep falling, so please don’t even bother telling me otherwise.”
I looked up at him, not really able to focus on his face, my double vision severe, and whispered, “Yoongi, I don’t feel so great. The floor keeps tilting and the walls are spinning and I see everything twice. I need help.”
He frowned as he leaned his forehead on mine, then jerked back and touched my forehead with his hand this time, recognizing a fever when he felt my burning face. He knew he needed to get me back to their hotel to actually help me, so he called for JK, who came running and happily picked me up, carrying me down the tunnel hallway and right to one of the waiting SUVs. Yoongi buckled me in, then let JK sit with me, my head pounding, my whole-body aching, my teeth chattering because I was now freezing cold. JK gave me his hoodie and looked proud as punch when I smiled up at him, causing him to tease Yoongi, but he didn’t seem to be that bothered- he was too worried about my health to take the bait.
When we reached the hotel, JK carried me to the elevator, then to the room, and set me down at the table, as instructed by Yoongi. The medical staff had been waiting for us, as Yoongi had called them the instant he realized I would need more than just his help this time, so they quickly checked my temperature- 102 degrees, so definitely a fever. They recommended an IV, which Yoongi agreed to immediately, and I was taken to the bedroom and laid down on the bed, me now delirious at this point.
Once it was started, JK was worried and kept pacing around, causing Yoongi to tell him to be useful and go start the bubble bath for me, which he was happy to do. Yoongi and the medical staff helped me walk into the bathroom, then Yoongi turned into his bossy version and began giving me orders, which was actually helpful, since I could not process anything very well at that time.
“Take your work clothes off and set them on the floor right here (he pointed), then get into the tub. Keep this hand (he held it) above the water,” he directed, so I nodded, prepared to do whatever he said. He disappeared, leaving me alone to follow his directions, which I quickly did.
When I was in the tub, he made sure the shower curtain was pulled across the edge of the tub, then he came to sit on the toilet seat lid and continued, “JK is going to help wash your hair again. When he is done, he will help you rinse off the shampoo. Do not put your other hand into the water.”
I said ok, then accepted JK’s help, knowing I could trust him, since he had shown me the night before. Right after Yoongi had given me the next step, I reached out with my left hand, the one with the IV, and reached for his, which he gently held, as I followed his plan and had JK help me, never moving my left hand and therefore keeping it nice and dry. When I was clean, he kissed my hand and said, “Now you are going to let the female medical staff help you dry off and dress in pjs. Then I am going to help you brush your teeth and JK is going to carry you to bed.”
I nodded, which he couldn’t see, but JK could and told him I had agreed. They both left, leaving me alone with the nice female medic, guiding me carefully out of the tub without getting my left hand wet, then helping me put on the pjs Yoongi had brought me, once I had dried off and used the bathroom once more. She helped me stand in front of the sink, then told Yoongi he should enter, which he did, coming quickly to stand behind me. I was not steady on my feet and was gripping the counter for support, so he gently wrapped his arms around my waist and told me to lean against him when I felt dizzy- he promised not to let me fall. He helped me wash my hands and brush my teeth, then he turned his head, not even needing to say his name- JK had been right outside the door, waiting for his shining moment.
Once he carried me to bed, he laid me down, then kissed my cheek and skipped from the room, happy to be able to show off once more. I just lay there, staring up at the ceiling, shivering, when Yoongi put the cloud on my stomach and pulled me close, causing me to fall asleep within minutes. The medics took the IV out shortly after, having done its job, and said to call them if he needed any more help in the morning. He was now extremely worried about me, but knew panicking wouldn’t help anything, so he just tried to get some rest and give me all his body heat as best he could.
I woke up in the middle of the night again, this time crying, my fever back, shivering, mumbling things that he could not understand, so he helped me to the bathroom, ran to get a water and my meds, then came back to find me crying on the floor, too dizzy to even sit up at that point. He rushed over to me, helped me take my meds, then washed my hands, and led me back to bed, where he fell asleep with his arms wrapped around me, trying to calm me down by reassuring me that everything would eventually be ok.
I was so exhausted from the stress and sickness that I didn’t wake until 11am the next morning, where I looked around and found him sleeping facing me this time, his arm draped across my waist, his other one under my neck as a pillow. Someone else was behind me, their arm also draped across my waist, but I knew if I turned over it would wake him up, so I stayed still for a few minutes, just admiring his beautiful sleeping face, trying to figure out how to thank him and tell him how much I appreciated him. I was also pretty sure I was falling for him, but that was another conversation entirely.
I waited for what seemed like forever, then I really had to know who was behind me, so I rotated onto my back, seeing JK’s sweet snoring face now inches from mine, causing me to giggle, which I covered with my hands. Yoongi was woken up by this tiny movement and could see I was smiling even though my mouth was covered, as he whispered, “Why are you so stinking adorable all the time?” I just stared at him, afraid to answer, then let him take my hands away from my face, to see my grin. He smiled back, then got up and helped me stand in front of him, wrapping me in his arms and saying quietly, “I hope you are feeling much better today. I do not like it when you are sick. It makes me very anxious and protective.” Then he leaned his face down and rubbed his nose on mine, causing my cheeks to catch fire, which I hid by immediately hiding my face in his neck. I was pretty sure he knew why I needed to hide, but I didn’t care. I wasn’t ready for that conversation yet anyway. He took my hand a few moments later and led me out of the room quietly, then dropped me off at the bathroom, saying he would meet me in the kitchen.
When I was done, I walked out to the kitchen, but he wasn’t there- Joon was instead and I said good morning, which I guess opened the door for all the questions he had been holding back since yesterday.
“Do you have feelings for Yoongi? What do you plan to do about it if you do?” he began, leaning towards me, catching me totally off guard. I took a deep breath, then reminded myself that he was a caring brother, so of course he deserved the truth.
“Joon, I know you are worried about Yoongi and if I might be attracted to him since he rescued me yesterday and literally took care of me, but you don’t need to be concerned. Yes, I am attracted to him, but no, I won’t be upset if he doesn’t return the feelings. Also, I do understand that you guys are in the middle of a tour and therefore the chances of him actually wanting to be involved with someone like me are extremely unlikely. But since I believe you deserve to know the truth, now you know. I have never wanted to harm any of you, including Yoongi, nor do I wish any ill will towards any of you. I want the best for you and all the members, whether that means I am part of your lives or not. I promise I am very grateful for everything and will find a way to show my appreciation somehow, but nothing I have thought of so far seems adequate. I hope you can understand my heart and trust me.”
He nodded, then came closer for a hug, but was beaten to it by JK, then Tae, who had apparently been eavesdropping close by. They were grinning, so happy to hear my confession, but I was confused about why that made them so happy- didn’t they care what Yoongi thought? Joon finally reached me for a gentle hug, then explained, “JK and Tae want the best for us, so they get extremely excited when someone treats one of their brothers with so much love and trust like you have. They have a lot of respect for how you have acted and they are very happy about knowing you.”
“All I have done is cause problems and be a huge burden for you guys, so I do not understand how that makes them happy, but I will believe you because I know you’d never lie to me,” I responded, shrugging my shoulders. Joon shook his head, then looked like he was about to say something, but changed his mind when he saw Yoongi sneaking up behind me. I didn’t see him, so I was surprised when he wrapped his arms around me, then admitted he had also heard what I had answered Joon and was very happy to hear it.
JK and Tae wanted to join in, so I was soon squished in the middle, barely able to breathe, until Joon finally made them stop, leaving me standing with just Yoongi, who was smiling shyly at me. Joon said they would be eating in his room next door, and we should come over soon, so everyone could eat together, then plan our outing, since apparently, I was now expected to participate? I must have looked confused because Joon quickly escorted JK and Tae out the door, leaving me alone with Yoongi, confusion all over my face. He turned to face me, then began, “I know you might not believe me, but I am very happy that you are with us right now.”
